Wearable & device connection app

Connect a wearable in a couple of taps.

Illustration for Wearable & device connection app

Overview

The challenge

Customers used many different wearables and fitness apps, and their data needed to arrive reliably, without exposing API keys or double-counting events.

Our approach

We built a web app that connects devices through an aggregator, keeps secrets server-side and processes webhooks idempotently.

Built with

  • TanStack Router
  • Supabase Vault
  • Cloudflare
  • Junction API

Standout features

  • Device linking through an aggregator widget
  • A server-side proxy that keeps API keys out of the browser
  • Idempotent webhook intake and a preferred data source per metric

Everyday impact

Users see all their fitness data in one place without typing anything in.

What we built

Inside the system

  • Device linking

Customers connect wearables and fitness apps through an aggregator’s link widget.

  • Server-side proxy

API keys never reach the browser, and secrets are stored in a vault.

  • Idempotent webhook intake

An event log makes sure each data event is processed exactly once.

  • Preferred data source

Customers choose which device is the source for each metric.

  • Charts & demo mode

Workout and metric charts, plus a demo mode for showing the experience.

How it works

From start to finish

  1. 01

A customer links a device in a couple of taps.

  2. 02

Data arrives from the aggregator through webhooks.

  3. 03

Each event is logged once and mapped to the preferred source.

  4. 04

Charts update with the customer’s latest data.

    Integration

Serverless integration hub & admin console

Hundreds of serverless functions powering an entire suite of apps.

    Standout features

    • One back end for payments, commerce, SMS, voice, connected devices and AI
    • A typed SDK and live function catalogue, so every app integrates the same way
    • An admin console to deploy functions, manage scheduled jobs and watch database health

    Everyday impact

New apps launch on proven building blocks instead of rebuilding integrations each time.

    Integration

    Store-to-CRM sync on AWS

Orders and subscriptions flow into the CRM on their own.

    Standout features

    • Webhook receivers for orders, subscription charges and CRM postbacks
    • Queue-based processing, so traffic spikes don’t drop orders
    • Infrastructure as code with automated builds and tests

    Everyday impact

No more exporting orders and re-keying customers into the CRM.

    • AWS Lambda

    Integration

    Billing system integration & runbooks

A complex claims pipeline, documented and watched end to end.

    Standout features

    • Integration with a practice-management and billing system
    • Automated checks across nine business areas, each with a severity and an owner
    • Complete runbooks and handover documentation

    Everyday impact

Billing issues can be fixed by whoever is on duty, not just one expert.

    Built with

    • Postgres
    • Node.js
